Project Coordinator – East Africa Migration Route Project Regional Component
The Project Coordinator for the East Africa Migration Route (EAMR) Project Regional Component is the main focal point of the East and Southern Africa Regional Office’s Regional Programme Unit (RPU) for the implementation of the EAMR components seated with the RPU.
The EAMR Project’s Implementation Phase is a 34 month, CHF 10m multi-country, multi-region project focused on protecting children and young people on the move along the East Africa Migration Route, from Ethiopia through Sudan to Egypt. The project includes significant regional components aimed on advocacy and systems strengthening work and the Project Coordinator is responsible for their effective, timely and successful implementation.
This role requires a strong ability to deliver specific objectives as outlined in the East Africa Migration Route Project work plan of the Regional Programme Unit, East and Southern Africa Regional Office. This includes the project coordination and closely working with the Migration and Displacement Lead on external engagement. It will also include close working relationships with the country office project leads in Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt as well as the overall Project Management Unit (PMU), located in Cairo.
The complexity of the project requires actively seeking and building relationships and influencing others, as well as the ability to operate with direct and indirect management lines.
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
Essential
- 5 years of experience in coordinating or managing large scale projects, experience of managing regional or multicountry projects a distinct advantage;
- Strong awareness of child protection issues in the area of migration and displacement;
- Solid understanding of child protection issues in the East and Horn of Africa region;
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills, including experience in report writing;
- Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, developing clear strategic vision, and ensuring buy in from stakeholders;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong ability to inspire participation and building productive, collegial relationships;
- Willingness to travel to support Country Offices and Partners in the implementation of activities;
- Commitment to Save the Children values, including willingness to abide by and enforce the Child Safeguarding and other relevant policies.
Desired
- Experience developing projects in the development and humanitarian sector;
- Experience in working in regional and multicountry settings, including conducting research in multiple countries.
- Experience in research activities and training skills
Contract duration: 12 months (possible extension)
Location: Save the Children operates in 12 Countries within the East and Southern Africa Region i.e. South Sudan, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
This role will be based in any Country Office with SCI Presence under National Contract terms
