NATURE AND SCOPE:

In response to a Request for Proposals by Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs. Trade and Development (DFATD), WUSC is preparing a proposal for the Field Support Services Project (FSSP) operating in Ghana. This FSSP is responsible for providing a range of services in support of program delivery and policy dialogue of Canada’s international assistance Ghana. These services include, but are not limited to, the provision of technical, administrative, financial, and logistical support services.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of services provided by the FSSP in Ghana.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The tasks for the FSSP Project Coordinator include, but are not limited to :

  • Assisting the Project Manager in developing, planning, and prioritizing all deliverables and task requests from the client ;
  • Engaging with stakeholders monitoring concerns and issues, and addressing problems in a timely and effective fashion;
  • Contributing to documenting and preparing quality reports and deliverables;
  • Coordinating and tracking task requests: ensuring quality implementation and reporting from Technical Specialists, identifying issues as they arise and recommending adjustments to the Project Manager and Designated Stakeholders when required and in a timely fashion.
  • Assisting in identifying and sourcing Technical Specialists when technical expertise and technical assistance are needed in response to task requests;
  • Coordinating project reviews/lessons learned, documenting outcomes and sharing the information with project team and/or the client;
  • Coordinating logistical services, such as vehicle rentals, travel, and contracting arrangements (Letters of Agreement, etc.) for Technical Specialists/subcontractors and third parties/Designated Stakeholders, as required;
  • Implement and coordinate approved FSS activities for stakeholders, in line with agreed work plans and schedules.
  • Provide advice on local government documentation requirements and administrative processes relevant to project implementation;
  • Supporting and researching best practices to expand knowledge on local development issues and development strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • University degree in one of the following fields: political science, law, international development, economics, finance, business or public administration, project management or social sciences.
  • The degree must be from an accredited education institution in good standing. A copy of the diploma will be required prior to securing an interview. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a credential validation from World Education Service (not affiliated with WUSC).

Experience

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Project Coordinator (or in a role with similar tasks and responsibilities).
  • Prior experience working in a Developing Country or working with International Development Assistance Stakeholders (at least 3 of the following stakeholder types – government, donors, non-government organizations, international organizations), preferably in Ghana.
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience with:
    • Maintaining and updating relevant project information in manual and/or electronic files (e.g., project activity schedules, status reports, correspondence).
    • Assisting in developing, planning, analyzing, evaluating, and prioritizing deliverables, documents, and requirements.
    • Researching, locating background information, analyzing, extracting relevant information, and writing summaries.
    • Engaging with stakeholders and addressing problems in a timely and effective fashion.
    • Coordinating logistical services such as mission planning, local transportation, travel arrangements, flights, and accommodations,
    • Coordinating project reviews/lessons learned and sharing them with the project team.
    • Liaising and coordinating with multiple stakeholders at the country or regional level. This should be demonstrated by experience working with three or more types of stakeholders for international development projects in such sectors as inclusive Economic Growth / Agriculture, Gender Equality and Empowerment, Environment and Climate Action, Health and Nutrition.
  • Applicants should have experience working on a minimum of two (2) projects in the last six years. These projects should be of a minimum value of $2 million CAD with minimum durations of 2 years each and should be either completed or to be completed shortly. References for both projects will be sought.

Language

  • General professional proficiency in English (oral, reading, writing).
