Main purpose of the Job:

Support the SWEEP Project Manager in implementing the Project on Strengthening Women Economic Empowerment Project (SWEEP) to ensure programmatic and financial integrity of the project including achievement of the project goals, objectives and outcomes.

Participation in the spiritual life of Tearfund:

  • Attends Tearfund Nigeria office prayers and, remotely, corporate weekly Staff Prayers if that is possible
  • Leads or participate in spiritual sessions of prayer and biblical reflection organised by Tearfund Nigeria office
  • Committed to Tearfund’s Vision, Values and Beliefs statement
  • Committed to actively working and living in accordance with Tearfund’s evangelical Christian beliefs
  • Responsible for maintaining own spiritual development

Position in Organisation:

  • Reports to the SWEEP project manager (Tearfund Nigeria) with a dotted line management to Tearfund’s Program Director
  • Salary: NGN 9,362,013.00 (Gross per annum)
  • Location: Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria
  • Hours: Full time; 40hrs/week
  • Contract length: 1 year
  • Support the SWEEP project manager in technical planning supervision and monitoring of field activities.
  • Maintain, monitor and measure the SWEEP project implementation and contribute to effective information management on community dialogues and diffusion activities to ensure adherence SOPs.
  • Participate in the monthly planning meetings to ensure effective implementation of the project.
  • Assist in project monitoring at the community level and participate in the Technical Advisory Group meeting.

Scope of Job:

  • Provide regular internal and external reports on the SWEEP project and other relevant information on program activities, policy matters and external relations.
  • Participate in the development of the monthly action plan on the SWEEP project based on findings from the monthly reviews to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Devolved budget responsibility(costed monthly Work Plan)
  • Some travel within Nigeria
  • Provide regular support to stakeholders in all 50 communities across Oyo, Osun and Ogun states.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting on the day to day project’s progress
  • Overseeing project activities, mitigating challenges and reporting to management as needed.
  • Develop and share detailed monthly activity plans to track progress.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Overseeing the implementation of community dialogue sessions and diffusion activities
  • Writing and submitting monthly and quarterly reports
  • Organising quarterly TAG meetings and liaising with TAG members.
  • Maintaining a cordial relationship all relevant stakeholders across Oyo, Osun and Ogun states
  • Supervising and building the capacity of community gender champions and faith leaders on the TM model
  • Ensure timely payments of gender champions and faith leaders
  • Coordinate all joint field activities between Tearfund and Innovative UK
  • Ensure regular visits and supervision of project activities in all 50 communities across Oyo, Osun and Ogun states.
  • Ensure all planned activities are delivered on time and with scope and budget
  • Support project manager in quality control, evaluation and closure
  • Manage risks, issues and changes.

It is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee.Tearfund supports poor communities, marginalised groups, vulnerable adults, children, churches, education, HIV victims, conflicts, injustice, hunger, water and sanitation.

The charity was created out of the Evangelical Alliance (EA) and the Evangelical Refugee Fund created by the United Nations.

The organisation was originally called The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund Committee (abbreviated to TEAR Fund).

George Hoffman headed up the fund.[In January 1969 Cliff Richard did two fundraising concerts for Tearfund at London's Royal Albert Hall.:29 He has served as the charity's Vice President and in 1999 served as its president.In 2009 Richard gave the proceeds of his first 50th anniversary concert in Wembley Arena to Tearfund.

Tearfund was registered as a charity on 6 March 1973.

Tearfund Ireland was launched as an independent charity in 2008 and now works closely with Tearfund UK as a sister organisation.
