Doctors with Africa CUAMM is the first NGO in the healthcare area officially recognized in Italy. Founded in 1950 with the aim of training doctors to work in developing countries, actually CUAMM is working in Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda implementing healthcare projects in partnership with local governments and institutions.

JOB TITLE Public Health expert – Project Manager

JOB LOCATION Angola, Cunene Province

START DATE March-April 2017

DURATION 6-12 months

REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree in Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Health Sciences with further specialisation, Master or equivalent title in Public Health and Hygiene
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Portuguese
  • Previous experience of Public Health in Developing Countries
  • Previous experience in managing health cooperation projects
  • Adaptability

KEY DUTIES
The Project Manager will be responsible of the overall coordination and implementation of project activities.
As Technical Advisor, the Public Health expert will support local health authorities in strengthening mother and child health services.
The specific tasks are:

  • facilitate regular planning and coordination meetings with local health authorities
  • collaborate in the process of improving data collection and analysis
  • work with the DMS to improve the quality of performance in the peripheral health facilities, participating in supervision visits, and organizing training for staff
  • support Community activities and the village committees for awareness and involvement of the community on the major health issues
  • support the development of the referral system to improve access to peripheral health services and hospital
  • establish a follow-up system for malnourished and chronically ill patients
  • manage the project, monitor activities and results and elaborate timely and accurate narrative and financial reports required by donors

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Selection interviews will take place at Cuamm HQ in Italy (Padua) or at Country offices in Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
The NGO does not cover travel expenses for selection.
