Chemonics seeks technical and program management professionals for the anticipated five-year, $10-million to $19-million USAID Strategic Investment for Inclusive Development project in Uganda. The project aims to facilitate domestic and international commercial investments that are aligned with USAID’s development priorities across sectors including agriculture and food security, energy, environment and biodiversity, health, and education. Through assistance in unlocking commercially driven investment capital, the project aims to contribute to Uganda’s journey to self-reliance, enhanced economic growth, improved health outcomes, quality employment and livelihoods, and better educational opportunities. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities Include:
Technical specialists and program management positions:
Financial services advisor; investment advisor; business services advisor; enabling environment/institutional strengthening advisor; microfinance specialist; sector-specific finance specialist (e.g., agricultural finance or energy)
Gender and inclusion specialist: Please describe in detail sector-specific experience regarding finance and investment in sectors including agriculture, energy, food security, environment and natural resources, health, or education.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in finance, banking, economics, business administration, development, or a related field
- Minimum five years of professional experience in a relevant area
- Experience with multisectoral programs that address economic growth, financial services, impact investing, small and medium enterprise lending, financial market systems, training, or financial inclusion
- Experience working in East Africa, particularly in Uganda
- Experience with USAID programming highly preferred
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with government officials, international donors, local partners, and private sector stakeholders
- Demonstrated innovation, versatility, and integrity
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Fluency in writing and speaking English required
Program Management Positions:
Monitoring, evaluating, and learning advisor; finance and operations director; grants and subcontracts manager; communications manager
Qualifications:
- Degree in a relevant field
- Minimum five years of experience in a relevant area; experience on large, complex, donor-funded projects preferred
- Demonstrated experience in supervisory positions
- Experience with USAID programming, regulations, and reporting requirements
- Experience working in East Africa, particularly in Uganda
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with government officials, international donors, local partners, and private sector stakeholders
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in writing and speaking English required
