The Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe is the humanitarian aid organization of the Protestant Churches in Germany. Since 1954, it has been supporting people who have been victims of natural disasters, war and expulsion and are not able to cope with this emergency by their own efforts. The organization is oriented towards the Christian image of man and unconditionally provides humanitarian relief, independent of religion, skin color and nationality. The Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe, together with its sister organization Brot für die Welt, is part of the Evangelical Society for Diakonia and Development in Berlin.The organization supports around 140 support projects worldwide each year. It works closely with ecclesiastical, ecclesiastical and secular partners who know the needs of the local people and adapt the aid to the social, cultural and economic conditions. The main focus of the work is emergency relief, reconstruction and disaster relief.The work of Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe is strictly based on the Code of Conduct of Humanitarian Aid: Respect for human dignity is its highest priority, it cooperates with those affected in partnership and promotes independence and reconciliation. It respects strict neutrality and independence.
