Fondation Mérieux was established in 1967 by Docteur Charles Mérieux, in honour of his father Marcel Mérieux, student of Louis Pasteur and founder of the Institut Mérieux in 1897. It was awarded official charitable status in 1976.Fondation Mérieux is an independent family foundation.
