For WWF Kudu Zombo Programme, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Maintenance & Logistics Assistant.

The mission of the department
With integrity, honesty and dedication, the Logistics and maintenance unit is responsible for maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment’s; planning, organizing, supervising the implementation, and reporting of all electrical and logistics activities for the Kudu Zombo (KZP) and Ngoyla Programmes. Based on KZ program needs and with respect to WWF CCO logistics / maintenance policies and procedures, the maintenance and Logistics assistance sets the objectives for the KZP maintenance and logistics unit within the projected time frame, budget and works towards their implementation. The maintenance and Logistics assistance reports to Project Executant of KZ and is supported by the CCO Logistics department.
Major Functions
Maintenance and Logistics Assistant is responsible for providing maintenance of all electrical system of KZP; as well as logistics support in the KZ field programme.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
ELECTRICAL
- Keep generator, lighting and electrical systems in working order. Diagnose problems and repair/replace defective parts.
- Routine inspection of all electrical systems and equipment: defective bulbs, tube lights, air conditioners, switches, sockets, short-circuit/trip lines, rewiring, management of tangled wires, load balancing, inspection of new electrical services (120v, 240v and 480v 3-phase), etc.
- Act quickly in the event of a breakdown, and be able to tell management whether the problem can be corrected and operations continued as normal. If regular operations have to be interrupted, the electrician will need to estimate the duration of the shutdown.
- Maintenance of solar panels and batteries (solar power), main power supply (ENEO), installation of various electrical equipment if necessary.
- Perform electrical maintenance and repairs; install/replace lights, switches, outlets and wiring.
- Operate a variety of standard power tools, equipment and trenchers in electrical installations, maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis.
- Maintain necessary files and records.
- Provide advice and guidance to less experienced personnel and others assigned to the position.
LOGISTICS
- Assist in the movement of staff and partners on mission where driver is on another mission, unavailable and where need be.
- Assist in obtaining required information for purchases and selection of service provider for related purchases.
- Advise management on the maintenance and repair of office equipment, including motorcycles, chainsaws, solar panels, air conditioners and vehicles. Assist in arranging staff meetings, preparation and organisation of various workshops and securing logistics of staff and external partners visiting the KZ field site including intern working with local communities in Campo.
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Assist the Finance and administrative department in the supervision of outsourced staff in the proper execution of their tasks, activities and reporting. This will be done by ensuring a strict follow up of attendance on a monthly basis prior to their payment for each month. Reports and remarks will be provided where need be.
- Assist in the supervision of security service provider-G4S by providing any case of absence or failure for timely service based on the terms of agreement stipulated on contract.
- Liaise with gardener to ensure cleanliness and beauty is maintained in WWF offices and Camp sites (zero tolerant to plastics or litter, beautiful lawns, flowers at WWF the offices, garden…)
- In addition to the above, the maintenance and logistics Assistant will assist amongst others in the Administrative and Conservation arms of the KZP to help her attain her objectives in the execution of activities pertaining to the day to day running of the office and the Gorilla Habituation exercise.
- Perform other various tasks as instructed by management.
Profile:
Required Qualifications:
- A degree in maintenance in a related field and/or a professional qualification in preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment to ensure its proper operation and prevent breakdowns.
- At least three (3) years’ professional experience, preferably in an international organization (NGO or company).
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Mastery of electrical systems,
- knowledge of safety standards and skills in diagnosing and repairing electrical installations;
- Ability to diagnose faults quickly and find effective solutions.
- Ability to explain technical problems and solutions to non-specialists.
- Ability to work in remote areas is an advantage.
