Descripion

  • The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified, resilient, and dynamic professional to take up the role of Finance Advisor Internal Controls for Nigeria.
  •  The purpose of the role is to be responsible to ensure compliance and adherence to NRC and partners processes and procedures is according to  the standard and is aligned with donors requirements.

What you will do

  • Ensure that country set up adhere to Financial Handbook, NRC policies, donor and auditor requirements
  • Maintain overall compliance to national and NRC policies and procedures
  • Training of staff on anti-corruption policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Provide regular Compliance analysis and reports
  • Implement anti-corruption policy
  • Conduct and follow up on spot checks to ensure compliance with SOPs, policies, and documentation across various departments Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  • Manage and coordinate and be the focal point for all the Donor Financial audits in the NRC Nigeria office
  • Ensure that financial risks are identified, assessed, and controlled effectively.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor of Accountancy, Finance, Business Studies, Economics- Essential
  • Minimum of 3 years experience from working as an Auditor or Compliance Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Membership to a professional Accounting body, eg- ICAN, ACCA, CIMA is an asset
  • Masters degree level in Accounting, Finance, Business Studies- Desirable
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Solid knowledge of computer software and modern accounting systems
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of the context in Nigeria
  • Knowledge of the local languages in North East Nigeria-Hausa
  • Experience with start-up, exit or similar.

What We Offer

  • Duty station:  Abuja, Nigeria
  • Contract: fixed national contract 12 months
  • Travel: 50%
  • Salary/benefits: grade 8 on NRC’s salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions
