NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja. NRC is looking for an ICLA Team Leader for our sub filed offices in Pulk/Gwoza in Brono State, North-East Nigeria. The purpose of the ICLA Team Leader is to ensure the Implementation and impact of ICLA programme activities in our subfield office

The ICLA Team Leader report to ICLA Coordinator

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for the ICLA response in Borno and Adamawa States where ICLA operates.
  • Manage, supervise and support ICLA teams through capacity-building activities and on-the-job training for frontline workers and key actors
  • Develop, implement and oversee the activities implementation work plan in line with ICLA objectives
  • Ensure standardization of activities according to the ICLA policy and handbook
  • Ensure the implementation of the safe identification reporting and referral system
  • Monitor and follow-up on the quality of the services provided
  • Conduct regular field visits and spot checks to ICLA field activities
  • Operationalize and mainstream technical inputs from the ICLA PDM, ICLA Coordinators, and Officers
  • Contribute to the oversight of officers
  • Assess new locations for ICLA outreach activities
  • Provide oversight for the ICLA response in Borno and Adamawa States where ICLA operates.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Law degree and must have been called to the Nigerian BAR (be able to practice as a lawyer in Nigeria) and be conversant with international humanitarian and Human Rights law
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a practicing lawyer.
  • Knowledge of the laws and policies governing Housing Land and Property issues and Identity documentation is mandatory
  • Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in written and oral English
  • Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets is required
  • Knowledge of the context in Nigeria
  • Fluency in one or more of the national/regional languages (Hausa and kanuri preferred)
  • Experience with humanitarian activities

Personal qualities

  • Bachelor’s degree level education in Law.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within field of expertise
  • Technical specific knowledge from the humanitarian sector
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Experience in working independently in a results-oriented multi-tasking and multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Excellent command in Microsoft Applications
  • Documented technical competences related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri

We can offer

  • Commencement: January 2020
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions – Grade Level 6 Step1 (Officer).
  • Duty stations: Pulka/Gwoza with frequent travels. Travel outside location is dependent on changing security conditions, especially for certain roads in the area.
