Overview
MSH is currently a sub-recipient to Catholic Relief Services for the implementation of the Global Fund Malaria Grant (2024 to 2026) in Nigeria, which aims to implement and support malaria control activities in 13 states, including the implementation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) campaign activities in 2 States (Katsina and Taraba). Due to the high volume of stakeholders/participants and community volunteers involved in the campaign, 2 SMC M&E Consultants (1 for Katsina and 1 for Taraba) will be needed to support the SMC activities at the State/LGA level. The personnel will work closely with the state-based M&E Specialist, the LGA team, State Team, and MSH team.
Responsibilities
- S/he shall support the reviewed assessed health facility and micro-planning results to ensure that generated data meet the minimum required standard and that they are captured in appropriate databases.
- Participate in all activities to review and improve SMC data and reports such as EoC review meetings, DQA, and validation meetings. He or she shall also participate in surveys and other operational research undertaken to assess project impact.
- Participate in the reviewing of the electronic attendance and adhoc staff/personnel register.
- Work closely with the state to support personnel selection and capturing of biodata. He or she shall maintain databases of SMC personnel and update of the database in the event of attrition and replacement.
- He or she shall maintain databases of all training conducted, health facility assessment and micro planning data, periodic supervision data, End of Cycle Review Meetings, Data Quality Audit, and Datasets of all Surveys.
- He or she shall be responsible for updating SMC MIS, performance dashboards, and PUDR.
- Participates and support the SMC-ITN Integration in the state
- Support implementing state in the compilation of reports, data analysis, and writing of reports such as end-of-cycle reports and donor narrative reports.
- He or She shall promote learning, feedback, and data use among LGA and Facility Health Workers
- Carry out other duties assigned by M&E Specialist/Technical Director M&E
- Consultant will work for 18 days per month and 8 hours per day (240 days in total)

- BSc. or HND in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or Economics or related analytical courses is required. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years’ experience in conducting public health research, particularly data analysis and preparation of abstracts and proposals.
- High analytical and decision-making skills is desirable.
- Previous experience designing MIS for a health facility or community-based intervention is desirable.
- Experience with the use of Kobo collect/Survey CTO, Tableau/Power BI, SPSS/STATA, and programmable software like MySQL is required.
- Experience with GIS Mapping
- Excellent report writing, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Experience in the use of modern technology in research – use of phones for data collection.
- Experience with the implementation of SMC is an added advantage.
- Ability to speak the local language (Hausa etc) is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with and respect for the tradition and culture of the locality
- Ability to give attention to details.
- Must NOT be a staff of Government at any level and in any Ministry/Parastatal/Agency.
- Must NOT be currently engaged as an SMC personnel member in whatever capacity (National, State, LGA, HFW, CHW, TA or LM)
