Title: Project Assistant

Location: Mozambique

Contract: 12-month fixed term contract

Responsibilities

  • Support partners in managing all aspects of the project cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Work with partners to identify technical support needs for LF morbidity management.
  • Embed high-quality and ethical monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) approaches in all project interventions.
  • Support routine data collection, entry, cleaning, and storage in line with programme needs and recommendations.
  • Assist partners in managing online and physical data collection tools.
  • Facilitate training for partners on data collection, safeguarding, and other project-related topics.
  • Collate and report on quarterly data collection and implemented activities.
  • Review and provide feedback on data collection methodologies and protocols.
  • Identify key areas for data analysis and learning.
  • Build effective partner relationships and support long-term collaboration beyond individual projects.
  • Develop relations with District Local Governments to achieve project objectives.
  • Promote shared learning and collaboration between partners.
  • Represent Sightsavers to District Local Governments and development partners.
  • Liaise with partners supporting trachoma elimination to coordinate activities.
  • Assist partners in preparing budgets, forecasts, and activity requests.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial and activity returns by partners.
  • Monitor project financial resources in liaison with the Finance Team.
  • Ensure partners manage and utilise project assets according to Sightsavers’ policies.
  • Represent the project at forums and meetings, advocating for its aims and objectives.

This is a highly varied and involved role and the above is not an exhaustive list of duties or required professional skills.

Jobholder Requirements

Essential:

  • A tertiary qualification (bachelor’s or above) in social sciences, public health, development studies, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in implementing programmes, particularly health programmes and/or neglected tropical disease programmes.
  • Experience working with District Local Governments health departments.
  • Demonstrated experience in data processing and management of large-scale surveys.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience of working with district local governments and district health systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of the NGO sector.
  • Experience in advocacy work in health and general development.
