Overall Purpose of the Role:

The Project Manager will be the highest-ranking person who is 100% dedicated to the project, and therefore will be responsible for overall project management and implementation of the Young Ethiopian women’s leadership & economic empowerment academy in the respective location. The Project Manager will supervise a multidisciplinary team and ensure that all activities are comprehensively planned, implemented and adapted based on learning.  The Project Manager will also be responsible in submitting quality reports, reviewing and revising project documents, fulfilling area-level compliance and coordinating with all partners and stakeholders engaged in the program.

The Project Manager will report to South West Hub Operation Manager the and work closely with the South West Hub Operation Manager and the entire technical team.

Responsibilities:

Program implementation:

  • Oversee implementation of the project according to contract objectives, ensuring the program meets or exceeds agreed targets, annual plans and budgeting processes for the program with full accountability to Save the Children, project partners and to the donor.
  • Develop area specific program strategies for successful implementation of program objectives.
  • Identify and effectively manage due diligence and all associated key risks related to the program in the implementation area.
  • Ensure that technical, financial, and operational activities, including reporting are carried out according to agreed milestones, donors’ and Save the Children’s policies and procedures.
  • Identify and effectively manage all key risks in the Area related to the project.

 Reporting and MEAL

  • Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices and their dissemination to a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Coordinate with MEAL officers the data input and co-responsible for report writing for all narrative and program data reporting requirements.

Program and Technical Oversight:

  • Provide technical oversight of all programming in the Area, ensuring achievement according to targets, on time, within budget, consistent with high impact quality programming and in compliance with core protection principles and best practices, and donor regulations.
  • Actively engage in incorporating learning for programmatic adaptation.
  • Coordinate technical inputs from stakeholders and project team in the field to maintain a high level of program quality.

Support Services:

  • Coordinate with the South West Hub Operation Manager and relevant support services functions to support financial and operational management of the program according to donors’ and Save the children’s standards for compliance.
  • Support the establishment of efficient and effective systems and procedures to monitor Payment by Results requirements and demonstration of Value for Money.
  • Manage all team members and support respectful and positive working relationships for quality program implementation

Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Bachelor/ advanced university degree in a related field, such as Business Management, Economics, Business Administration, Project Management, Development studies, and related field of studies.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience working in youth development and women empowerment programs, and with at least 3 years in supervisory role
  • Technical expertise and experience in migration, protection and/or livelihoods programming
  • Robust analytical and strategic planning skills.
  • Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding program targets, whilst maintaining program quality.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience in managing diverse teams
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with host governments, donors, partners, local organizations, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to take personal responsibility for completing tasks to a high standard and to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and professionally in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
