Primary Purpose:

This position is primarily responsible for working with and assisting the Senior Systems Administrator in administration and monitoring of ICT systems for the main and site offices, circuit rides and end users; this includes maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers.

The position requires flexibility, innovation, initiative and confidence in dealing with different types of systems, software and different types of people.

Essential Duties:

  1. Achieves and maintains a thorough knowledge and adherence to established RSC Africa, CWS/IRP, DOS/PRM and USCIS policies and procedures regarding ICT systems management for RSC Africa.
  2. Administers, maintains, monitors, and ensures accessibility of all CWS Africa information systems including while not exhaustive; Servers (on premise and VPs), Microsoft 365, SQL databases, financial and Administration systems, cloud SAAS and other IT systems that support the operations of CWS RSC Africa.
  3. Administers systems access control, audit, and accountability as per internal IT policies, procedures, and security framework controls.
  4. Maintains the security and the integrity of the network systems, which includes communication systems, user endpoints, patch management, vulnerability scanning, anti-virus system and the entire information system.
  5. Compliance management; enforces the adoption of the NIST 800-53 security framework controls and other legal information systems requirements. This includes recommending, maintaining (documenting), and enforcing written IT policies, standards, and procedures.
  6. Ensuring business continuity by conducting and maintaining Data backups, backup testing and data restore per the disaster recovery policy and procedures.
  7. Administers and manages user accounts including remote and mobile device users.
  8. Resolves system administration requests escalated from service desk, lead and work with the IT Support staff in Systems Administration related tasks.
  9. Participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of the organization
  10. Participates in field processing circuit ride servers preparation, deployments and returns.
  11. Collaborating and supporting the site and sub offices IT staff in their tasks and various projects.
  12. Travelling to remote locations for systems and staff support.
  13. When needed, covers the responsibilities of the other IT specialists.
  14. Working with the IT Senior specialists on various tasks and projects.
  15. Any other tasks as assigned by the Technical Supervisor or IT Management.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Five (5) years paid work experience required.
  • Two (2) years directly related specialized experience performing the essential duties is required.
  • Two years’ experience in managing and maintaining computer networks, preferably Windows based networks, is preferred.
  • Experience in managing IT projects preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge in domain management and Active directory services.
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in Windows server 2016 setup and administration.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience with administration of database systems, especially MS SQL Server.
  • Strong knowledge in VMWare – virtualization technology.
  • Knowledge in data leak, loss and encryption methods (McAfee or any other)
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft licensing requirements.
  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge in systems security in a large network environment.
  • Knowledge in networking (LAN, WLAN and VPN), especially with Cisco managed devices (Firewalls, Routers and switches)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP Architecture and OSI Model.
  • Strong knowledge of using and managing IT Helpdesk systems.
  • Good problem solving skills and willingness to constantly renew required knowledge.
  • Knowledge in Intrusion prevention and detection systems (Cisco Firepower or any other)
  • Troubleshooting and problems solving skills in a Windows based environment.
  • Knowledge in software development languages and software design is a plus.
  • Knowledge in Linux Servers administration is a plus.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field, or four (4) additional years related work experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Other advanced professional training in IT related field is required. Information systems security and auditing, Office 365 Administration or related Microsoft Certifications are an added advantage.

  • This position may require travel in sub-Saharan Africa on short notice and under sometimes difficult conditions to meet demands of a dynamic operational program
  • Background check which includes references and an educational and criminal check is required before the start of employment for International applicants.
  • A valid passport and the ability to maintain a valid passport throughout the entire appointment is required, which includes having enough passport pages for travel.
  • Physical: This position requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, handling objects (manual dexterity), reaching above shoulder level, using fine finger movements and lifting/carrying heavy loads.
  • Environmental: Incumbents in this position will be exposed to excessive noise, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, dust and infectious diseases, harsh weather climates, long work hours, bumpy roads, extended travel, excessive sun exposure, and non-ventilated spaces.
