DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY OF FUNDING
JOB SUMMARY
The Warehouse Assistant supports efficient, compliant, and secure warehouse operations by assisting with the receipt, inspection, storage, and dispatch of commodities and pharmaceuticals. The role maintains accurate inventory and asset records, ensures proper handling and storage conditions, and upholds SP warehousing standards. The Warehouse Assistant also supervises loading and offloading activities, supports casual labor, prepares logistics documentation, and contributes to safe, organized, and accountable movement of goods throughout the supply chain.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the supervision of the receipt, storage and dispatching of all program commodities.
- Assist in maintaining and organizing paper records of the quantity, quality and balance of commodities, including daily updates of stack cards and warehouse ledgers, as well as reception waybills.
- Assist the warehouse officer to ensure quantities dispatched match the requester’s order.
- Assist the warehouse officer to separate damaged commodities from the rest of the stock.
- Assist in the maintenance of clean, well-ventilated and pest-free storage conditions.
- Assist in ensuring good warehousing practices according to donor standards and ensure adherence at all times.
- Supervise the offloading and stacking of the commodities.
- Assis to control incoming goods by such methods as physical counts, random weight checks, rejection of any spoiled, broken or damaged commodities, etc.
- Assis to deliver goods upon request, supported by official and approved documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date records on stock cards and paper inventory lists.
- Packing shipments with appropriate packaging to reduce the risk of damage during transportation.
- Prepare goods receiving note (GRN), goods issue notes (GIN), waybill, and appropriate warehouse documents.
- Assist and implement appropriate measures to safeguard assets and resources of the organization to ensure real-time tracking and quality control using standard preventive measures in line with established procedures and authorization received from supervisor.
- Support in fixed asset and resource count.
- Assist in the overall supervision and training of casual labor
- Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities with a generous and serving spirit for the benefit of Samaritan’s Purse.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE NEEDED
- BA Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing Management, Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
- 1 – 2 years’ experience in warehouse management, logistic, transport operation.
- NGO experience preferred
LANGUAGE
- Proficiency in English and Amharic
- Knowledge of the regional language required
- Knowledge of any other national language is a plus
