About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to provide strategic leadership and oversight across CBM’s multi-country NTD donor portfolio.
In this senior role, you will work across country programmes and global teams to strengthen portfolio performance, ensure effective grant management and donor compliance, oversee financial and operational risk, and build strong relationships with institutional donors and partners. You will provide strategic insight to inform decision-making, strengthen ways of working across the portfolio, and contribute to the continued growth and effectiveness of CBM’s NTD programmes.
This position is only filled locally in one of CBM permanent established entities. (ex: Berlin or Bensheim (Germany), UK (Cambridge or remote), the US (remote), Nairobi (Kenya), Abuja (Nigeria), Lomé (Togo), Yaoundé (Cameroon), Lusaka (Zambia), Addis Abeba (Ethiopia), Guatemala City, Kampala (Uganda), Niamey (Niger), etc.).
Local contractual conditions of the respective country will apply. An expatriation is not intended

You Will:

  • Lead grant management and donor compliance across CBM’s multi-country NTD donor portfolio, including quality assurance and compliance review of budgets, workplans, procurement plans and donor reports prior to submission.
  • Oversee sub-award management, portfolio-wide compliance monitoring and donor reporting, identifying, mitigating and escalating compliance risks and promoting consistent grant management practices.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, budget utilisation and delivery against agreed milestones, leading portfolio-level financial oversight and risk management.
  • Identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks, providing strategic analysis and recommendations to support decision-making and portfolio effectiveness.
  • Manage donor relationships and serve as a key programmatic interface with institutional donors and donor secretariats.
  • Contribute to donor stewardship, resource mobilisation, business development and partnership opportunities, providing programme performance, compliance and impact information to support donor engagement.
  • Coordinate grant compliance and portfolio management across country teams and relevant CBM functions, working with internal stakeholders to strengthen CBM’s position as a trusted and high-performing partner.
  • Provide strategic and operational support to country programmes, with an initial focus on the RLMF portfolio while also supporting the wider NTD donor portfolio, particularly during critical planning, implementation and reporting periods.
  • Capture and share lessons learned, facilitating collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the NTD portfolio.

You Have:

  • A relevant academic degree in international development, public health or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in grants management within multi-country, donor-funded health or development programmes, including compliance monitoring, budgeting and sub-award management.
  • Experience managing or advising on institutional donor compliance frameworks at portfolio or multi-country level.
  • Strong working knowledge of the NTD landscape and major NTD/global health donors.
  • Experience managing sub-award or sub-grant agreements with in-country partners.
  • Experience working across multiple country offices in matrix or international environments.
  • Strong donor-facing communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and cross-cultural relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Professional proficiency in both English and French.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work flexibly across time zones.
  • Identification with the Christian values and mandate of CBM.
